Dennis,
8.1.7.4.x is not without issues regarding exp.
I 'd make quite sure that all patchsets have been
applied to the 8174 db regarding exp, so that he does
not end up with an import log full of ORA-00907 (See ORA-00907.ora-code.com)s.
